RetroMod LoFreq Modern by Tracktion tackles this problem by preserving the raw character of modern boutique hardware while giving you the sound design flexibility required for contemporary music production. It packages a highly curated selection of modern analog monophonic synths into a single, high-performance workstation built for heavy basslines, gritty leads, and evolving textures.
The foundation of RetroMod LoFreq Modern relies on 12,000 meticulously recorded samples captured from 11 standout hardware instruments spanning from 1996 to the present. Instead of cutting corners with basic direct-box inputs, Tracktion tracked the hardware source units through premium studio hardware, including the Avalon U5, A-Designs REDDI, Phoenix Audio NiceDI, and premium converters from Universal Audio and RME. Rather than stopping at simple playback, the architecture pairs these rich raw waveforms with a secondary multi-mode resonant filter and an additional second oscillator to beef up the low end far beyond the capabilities of the original physical synths.
