OVERVIEW

OVER 3,900 SAMPLES IN TOTAL
Realsamples German Harpsichord box shot min

German Harpsichord 1782 – featuring a Dresden-built harpsichord from 1782 by Carl August Gräbner, one of the few original German harpsichords preserved. The instrument resides at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum Nuremberg. The harpsichord offers a beautiful and tight low end, delicate low mids and a rich treble range. We sampled all 4 registers (upper 8' stop, lower 8' stop, 4' stop, Lautenzug) plus combinations together (2 x 8', tutti).

Each sound was sampled with up to 8 round robin notes per key (to avoid the "machine gun"-like sounds when repeating samples). This makes trills and fast playing sound musical and smooth. The key release sounds are also very important for the acoustic impression of the instrument. They were recorded with 4 round robin samples per key. In total, the library contains over 3,900 samples, originally recorded at 192 kHz/24 bit and downsampled to 44.1 kHz.

Additionally, the library contains an essay provided by the Germanisches Nationalmuseum Nuremburg, describing the history of the instrument.

Presets are included for Native Instruments™ Kontakt® (full version required) in its original valotti temperament at 412 Hz, as well as presets at 440 Hz.
