“Preparing” an instrument is an experimental technique based on placing objects on top of the strings. It was first launched by the known composer John Cage. Flavio and Filippo, the minds behind this project, followed the idea of searching, new sounds from the most interesting acoustic sources.
PREPARATO is not just a prepared piano library recorded with 15 incredible techniques; thanks to the “Acoustic Modular Instrument” engine based on a multi-layering system, PREPARATO allows you to have incredible control over the acoustic source, with endless possibilities of combination.
The use of both acoustic sampling and creative modular software bring to PREPARATO the feel and power of a real synth, designed to meet the endless intricacies of a musician’s mind.
We’ve recorded the piano with more than 15 techniques, using screws, coins, bow, mallets, felt, chains, and other unique preparations, in a beautiful church in the center of Rome.
The software of Preparato allows the user to insert 5 techniques at the same time with separated controls, such as Filters, Distortion, LFO, tune, transpose, random formant control. It is also possible to have a different preparation for each note.
The engine features also a powerful Arpeggiator, 2 convolution reverbs with +40 presets, and an integrated Preset Manager with +200 factory presets made by the best sound designer and composers in the field.
